CCC “John Devotion Book” Template and Tips:
“How to write a daily devotional”

As you write a daily devotion here are some guidelines to help you:

1. Pick a title word or phrase
2. Select a key phrase or verse from your passage to quote at the top of your devotion
3. Identify 1 main theme or point to focus on – just 1!
4. Talk about what the passage means and why it is important
5. Conclude with…
   1. A Reflection Question – to help the reader continue to think about the meaning of this passage of scripture.
   2. An Application Option – to help the reader move towards making the passage practical and real in their own lives.
6. Remember these specific “technical” guidelines:
   1. Your devotion should be no more than 350 words using Arial font size #9
   2. We need this turned into Sandy Navidi by July 11, 2010

7. Everyone’s devotion will be reviewed by an editing team who will relay any final adjustments/suggestions back to the writer for consideration and approval before finalizing the devotion for printing.
